I have always wanted to paint.

I am mostly self taught, experiencing with acrylics and medium to leartn color theory and texture. But the real learning took place in a workshop on OIl and Cold Wax Medium. At first, I could not manipulate the medium abstractly, I was too literal. The second day brought more understanding while I was building layer upon layer and then deconstructing those layers to create a new image. Manipulation of the medium was all about sharing experiences. I started spreading color and letting the images tell me what to create. I progressed in this thought, this practice and began noticing details that I was drawing from my daily life. .

I am influenced by horizons, clouds and buildings in the abstract form.

The oil and wax combination allow me to change the shape of the image so I can reinvent the visual story.  Color and texture are speaking the loudest right now.  Both add depth and character to the image.

I am currently challenging the colors of what appears in nature, in our landscapes. What happens if a Birch tree isn’t white? And the sky around it is red? Is water always blue or are there grey and black tones? And what if green is altered with other colors?

I am excited to see what happens in 2023!
